It is understood that the extrusion equipment is mainly used in the mass production of aluminum and copper materials required for television transmission, refrigeration, high-voltage electrical wiring, automotive air conditioning, and electrified railways. The research group led by Professor Song Baozhen, director of the extrusion engineering research center of Dalian University, has been tracking this advanced technology. After the 1990s, British companies have developed equipment for producing copper flat wires, which have a high market share in the international market. Due to the high price of this equipment, only a few sets have entered the Chinese market.
Relying on the spirit of independent innovation, Chinese technicians broke the monopoly of extrusion technology abroad, and realized the "domestication" of the extrusion equipment required for the production of copper flat wires for transformers for mining furnaces . Extrusion technology was invented by scientists at the British Atomic Energy Agency's laboratory in 1971. Two companies in the UK were allowed to use this production technology to develop and sell special equipment, initially for aluminum production.
In the past, the copper flat wire used for the transformers of mining furnaces in our country has always adopted the production process of rolling, drawing, and then quenching. The product quality is low, the cost is high, and the raw materials are also wasted. After applying extrusion technology, the length of the product is no longer limited, and the utilization rate of raw materials can reach 97%. In the past, copper extrusion equipment could not be produced in China. Today, the price of domestic extrusion equipment is only one-fifth of that of imported equipment, and the competitive advantage is very obvious.
